DESCRIPTION:Magnús Blöndal – Elektrónísk stúdía \nElectronic study for wind quintet and piano was written in Reykjavík in\n1959 and premiered at the second Musica Nova concert in Reykjavík\, on\nApril 11 1960. It features alternating instruments and sine tones played\nfrom a tape and arranged dodecaphonically into individual pitches. The\nonly electronic equipment to which the composer had access around\n1960 were Telefunken 5 and M 10 tape recorders and the sine wave\ngenerators at the NBS workshop. \nVinyl Release Listening Party \nA rare opportunity to hear this visionary work in full on Smekkleysa’s sound system.  \n  \n  \n

Released by Smekkleysa earlier this year\, the album has received widespread critical acclaim. \nDrýpur is Bergþóra’s first full-length album\, where clarinet\, strings\, and electronic music converge in a raw and mournful sonic landscape. The record takes listeners on an intimate\, darkly atmospheric journey\, with the clarinet at its emotional core. \nThe evening begins with Bergþóra introducing the album and sharing insights into its creation\, followed by a short audience Q&A. During the intermission\, she will be signing copies of the album\, which will also be available for purchase at the venue. \nAt 9:20 PM\, the electronic duo Gargan takes the stage at Smekkleysa. The group consists of Bergþóra Kristbergsdóttir and Hulda Ragnhildur Hjálmarsdóttir\, who are currently working on their debut full-length release—a six-piece work that blends free improvisation\, experimental electronic music\, and the sonic possibilities of the clarinet. \nGargan serves as a creative refuge for Bergþóra and Hulda—a space where they break away from established ideas of classical instrumental music and the conventions of electronic music. Their work explores the elasticity and limits of sound itself. \nThe name Gargan refers to scraping tools and overlooked objects often considered to have little value. It reflects the duo’s artistic approach: looking more closely at the immediate surroundings and uncovering sounds that usually go unnoticed\, including those produced by everyday household objects and utensils. \nCombining abrasive textures with expressive clarinet playing\, Gargan creates a rich world of unconventional sounds\, drawing listeners into a distorted\, powerful sonic landscape. Along the way\, a wide range of emotions may emerge as the duo turns inward to examine vulnerability and obsession—only to release them again with force and intensity.

WWW was one of the first bands to experiment with rap in the Czech Republic. Later\, they began incorporating live instruments and moved away from traditional rap production. In 2000\, WWW paused its activities\, and its members pursued other careers—founder Ondřej Anděra became a film director\, while lyricist Lubomír Typlt focused on painting. The band returned to the scene in 2006 with their debut album\, Neurobeat\, released under the independent label BiggBoss. WWW presents itself through an original stylization of hip-hop as a space for authenticity. Neurobeat was released as the second Czech dual-disc album\, featuring the band’s original music videos. Their visual work has also been exhibited in major art galleries. WWW’s music uniquely blends hip-hop\, industrial\, electronic\, and free-form composition. Lubomír Typlt’s lyrics challenge listeners to engage their imagination\, with their impact heightened by a rich array of poetic and phonetic devices. Ondřej Anděra’s texts explore the rhythmic possibilities of language at an abstract level. DESCRIPTION:Það er sannur heiður að tilkynna það að Purrkur Pillnikk ætlar að spila tónleika á Vagni allra landsmanna. Purrkinn þekkjum við öll og ef við þekkjum hann ekki\, þá þekkjum við hann samt. Allir hafa heyrt þessi lög og þetta er besta hljómsveit sem Ísland hefur alið.\nÉg ætla að vitna hér í strákana í Purrkinum.“Við erum spenntir fyrir að spila á Lista Vestrinu í júlí því við höfum ekki komið á Vestfirði síðan 1981 og þá á Ísafjörð. Við þekkjum fólk sem hefur hlustað á okkur síðan þau léku sér með Playmo og verið með okkur á heilanum síðan. Það er uppáhalds fólkið okkar en allir forvitnir eru líka velkomnir. Enn ungur en! Hlökkum til að sjá ykkur!” \n\nVagninn var stofnaður ári eftir komu Purrksins á Vestfirði 1981 og hefur beðið hans síðan. Það eru þónokkur ár.\nAð fá svona hljómsveit á Vagninn er rosalegt. Þeir spiluðu tónleika í fyrra í Austurbæ og þar áður spiluðu þeir í Smekkleysu nokkur lög\, þegar þeir gáfu út heildarsafn verka sinna “Orð fyrir dauða”. Ég sem skrifa þetta var þarna og kleip mig oft\, því þetta var óraunverulegt. Þvílíkir meistarar\, þvílíkt band.

DESCRIPTION:Hin rúmlega hálfrar aldar gamla gæðasveit Melchior er um þessar mundir að senda frá sér sjöundu langspilsplötu sína\, LJÓS Í SKÓM.  Af því tilefni verður efnt til hlustunarteitis í Smekkleysu\, Hverfisgötu 32\, föstudaginn 5. júní kl. 17.00 – 19.00. Þar munu þeir Hilmar Oddsson\, Hróðmar I Sigurbjörnsson og Karl Roth kynna þetta nýjasta verk sitt og segja frá því í stuttu máli. Svo verður plötunni auðvitað rennt og gestir geta vætt kverkarnar yfir tónunum. \n \nMelchior var stofnuð af unglingspiltum úr Hagaskóla og Austubæjarskóla árið 1973 og fyrsta starfsskeið sveitarinnar náði yfir menntaskólaárin (1973-1977)\, en hljómsveitin lagðist í dvala árið 1980. Þetta var tími hljómsveita eins og Spilverks þjóðanna\, Þokkabótar og Diabolus in Musica\, en þær lögðu allar áherslu á frumsamda og órafmagnaða (acoustic) tónlist. Afrakstur þessa fyrsta starfsskeiðs voru plöturnar Silfurgrænt ilmvatn (1978)\, en af henni varð lagið Alan vinsælt í óskalagaþáttum þess tíma og Balapopp (1979). Þá tók við 29 ára starfshlé. Sveitin birtist okkur svo aftur með plötunni Melchior árið 2009. Af henni er lagið Fiskisúpa Sigríðar í Fjöruhúsinu sem naut talsverðra vinsælda. í kjölfar hennar gaf sveitin út safnplötuna Melchior < 1980. Árið 2012 var komið að plötunni Matur fyrir tvo og svo kom konseptplatan Hótel Borg út árið 2019.  Og nú er það LJÓS Í SKÓM\, 5.júni á því herrans ári 2026.\n \nMeðlimir Melchior skilgreina tónlist sína sem stofupopp.\n \nÞeir sem hafa forkeypt plötu eða disk geta nálgast eintök sín við þetta tækifæri.
