A lot to celebrate and it will culminate in a one day festival in Víðistaðatún, Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, Wednesday 12th of August. 

For years we’ve been having Mánakvöld ~ dance evenings under a full moon where Björk invites friends to DJ with her. This time we gather under the total solar eclipse and dance:

The event coincides with Björk’s exhibition at the National Gallery Of Iceland where three songs are presented at the museum on a theatrical scale for the first time. Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil, composed and arranged by Björk in honour of her mother, are accompanied by a new work derived from the artist’s forthcoming album. The exhibition is presented alongside Metamorphlings, an exhibition of James Merry, Björk’s long time collaborator.

Víðistaðatún is in the western periphery of the capital area, where the 100% total eclipse will be experienced for 1m and 4s and the total duration of the eclipse will be 2 hours. See http://eclipse2026.is/ for further information. 

All tickets include access to Björk’s exhibition at the National Gallery of Iceland and a pair of custom made approved solar eclipse glasses.

Allt er þegar þrennt er: Almyrkvi á sólu, sýning Bjarkar í Listasafni Íslands og 40 ára afmæli Smekkleysu !!

Í tilefni þessa er blásið til hátíðar á Víðistaðatúni, Hafnarfirði, miðvikudaginn 12.ágúst 2026.

Viðburðurinn fer fram samhliða sýningu Bjarkar í Listasafni Íslands sem stendur yfir frá 30.maí – 20.september 2026. Í safninu veita þrjár innsetningar gestum einstakt tækifæri til að upplifa alltumlykjandi verk sem búa yfir kynngimagnaðri hljóðrænni, sjónrænni og tilfinningalegri dýpt. Tvö þeirra eru tregaljóð, samin og útsett af Björk í minningu móður hennar, og hið þriðja er nýtt verk af væntanlegri plötu Bjarkar. Ásamt sýningu Bjarkar verður í safninu sýning James Merry, Ummyndlingar, en tvíeikið hefur unnið náið saman í fjölda ára.

Frá Víðistaðatúni í Hafnarfirði munu gestir upplifa almyrkva á sólu í 1 mínútu og 4 sekúndur, en áhrifa sólmyrkvans mun gæta í tvær klukkustundir. Nánar á https://solmyrkvi2026.is/
