Pretty Late was recorded over one year, although the compositions on the album have a longer history. With the nostalgic feelings that follows becoming an adult, the songs have deep meaning and memories for the young composer. The material is recorded at Sundlaugin (the infamous studio built by Sigur Rós in the 2000s) and Mengi (a legendary arts and experimental venue in central Reykjavík) who are also releasing the album.

Gefin út í aðeins 100 númeruðum eintökum á 180 gr. svörtum vinyl. Öll eintök árituð af Magnúsi Jóhanni. Umslagið er hannað af Viktori Weisshappel og er með innfelldum (e. debossed) stöfum og sérprentuðum innri vösum. Nafn plötunnar er handskrifað á hvert umslag og eru því engin tvö eintök eins.

Critics have described the music of Gunnar Andreas Kristinsson as magnificent poetry and praised the composer’s fresh and bold imagination. As a freelance composer Gunnar Andreas has over the last decade developed his own musical language inspired by Icelandic folk music, Indian rhythms and fractal geometry. With the release of Patterns curious listeners get a chance to explore five different solo pieces by Gunnar Andreas for either piano or organ along with a three movement duo for viola and organ.
