I wanted to create a piece of music that would reflect those situations we all have to face at some point,
where there are no answers to be had and all we can do is embrace the uncertainty as mystery.
It all sprouted from a sample recording I made of a super dusty old, quite bent out of tune, Russian marxophone I found sleeping in my friend’s studio.
Lyrics:
“Over here, over on the other side of love.
Cold winds they whisper. But they’re not telling. Only time can tell. Only time can tell.
How to stop the figuring out of the un-figure-outable? Call it mystery.”
Commissioned by The Echo Society and performed live by a 15 piece orchestra featuring Rob Simonsen on piano as well as Kira Kira and Brendan Angelides on vocals at The Mack Sennett Studios in Los Angeles, conducted by Joseph Trapanese.
Recorded by Satoshi Noguchi, produced and mixed by Kira Kira.
Originally released on download code with a handcrafted wooden amulet. Then on Kira Kira’s album “Alchemy & Friends” by Time Released Sound in 2018.
