The album consists of cover songs translated into Icelandic, except “Jóhannes Kjarval” written and performed by Björk herself.
The song is a tribute to a Icelandic painter of the same name.
The pressing was limited to approximately 6,000 copies, targeted primarily at the Icelandic market.[36] Distribution was confined to Iceland, with copies sold through local record stores and promoted via Icelandic radio stations, and there was no international release during the initial run.[6] The album’s artwork featured childlike illustrations on the cover, designed by Björk’s mother, Hildur Hauksdóttir, with the photograph taken at a Reykjavík studio; the inner sleeve included track information printed in Icelandic.
